Happy Belated New Year!!

5 days into the New Year and I'm finally getting around to posting.

New Years was great. DH and I hadn't really made any plans as we wanted to stay around the house...but we told some of our friends that if they had no other plans, they were welcome at our house...needless to say, 4 couples showed up. We had a great time. Ordered some pizza, drank ALOT of beer, well, they did, not me, played some Texas H0ld em. The last of the group left just before 2am. I was DEAD TIRED! But I wouldn't have changed the night for anything.

New Years Day was spent on the couch...literally. We didn't leave the house, and DH never even got dressed...just lounged in shorts and a T shirt.

We went out yesterday and purchased some baby items. Tar.get and K0hls had a clearance sale, and I picked up some cute little outfits for Lucky. We also went to a store here in IL called 0nce up0n a child. It's basically a resale shop, but they also have brand new stuff that big box stores sell them when they have overstock. I ended up getting a Med.ela double pump for 1/2 price. It's never been used, and it was such a good steal I couldn't pass it up. We also went to the big box baby store and purchased our Eddie Bau.er travel system...on clearance. It was marked down because it was used in a display, but all parts and books were there, so again, couldn't pass it up. My mom was a little angry that I had made the 2 large purchases...said I should put that stuff on my registry. OK, I bought a pump...I would NEVER ask someone else to buy me a pump...talk about awkward. And the travel system was reduced...there are plenty of other things we will need for Lucky when she comes. Which brings me to...

Have any of you moms out there used a sling to carry your baby? Not an infant carrier, but the sling type. If so, which ones did you like/not like. C0nsumer Rep0rts didn't rate the slings very highly, but I really have my heart set on trying attachment parenting (no disses please) and carrying baby. Plus, it would make nursing in public a hell of a lot easier and "private". And please also, tell me what really is necessary to have right away and what can wait...I don't want to go overboard, I really just want the necessary items at first.

Happy New Year!
We bought our travel system months ago because it was such a steal, too! I got so much grief over it, but whatever. You cannot pass up a good deal. The breast pump deal is AWESOME. Those are so expensive, and I am also of the mind that it is far too personal an item to register for (my husband and several friends strongly disagree, but we all have our personal boundaries).
Sevearl of my friends have told me their babies would not do the sling and others swear by it. I registered for one and if we get one, I'll try it. Otherwise I might just wait for her to get here and see if her demeanor fits that... funny how babies ultimately have a way of making those decisions for us!
Glad all is well.
*hugs*

Happy new year! I LOVE wearing my baby, and I think different ones work good at different times. I LOVE my moby wrap; even though it takes a little time to put on, it is the most comfortable on my shoulders and back, and you can do so many carries with it. I would highly recommend it, or one that is similar. I also have a microfleece pouch from kangaroo.korner that i love and my husband uses the most. I just got a mei tai, but it hasn't arrived yet, but I'll let you know how it goes. :) Don't let anyone make you feel bad about babywearing; it makes things SO much easier and does not make them clingier! And you get to be hands free! :)

With my twins, my daughter, who was my high maintenance needy kid loved being in the sling. I was more apprehensive of it because they look so squished in there, but once you get them in right, they will sleep there for hours. My mom actually wore her while she was sewing a few days and it was the quietest she ever was. I love Peanut Shell. They have a bit of give to them. I still use mine for both kids when they just want to be held but I have to "do" things. Both of them like being in it now, especially because they can be close to mom.

I'm so excited for you!!! I cant wait - and maybe Lucky will share a birthday with my miracles on Cinco de Mayo!!

Oh - I've been told by many doctors and people that baby wearing made their kids 'easier' and it's best for both mom and baby. I dont know how anyone could be against it. I think we need to worry about so much else besides letting our kids cry. They are only little for so long and pretty soon you cant snuggle or carry them anymore, so do it all you can now!!!

Our pediatrician has recommended using a sling (especially for two babies) because of the extra comfort baby gets from being so close to you. Plus it frees up your hands to do other things. I haven't gotten one yet as I wanted to wait until the babies were born to try them on in the store. I guess it's time!

We used a sling when the babies were first born because most other carriers require them to be 8 lbs. I got one at Target and the one for dh at B-R-US. I liked them but haven't used them since our twins have gotten bigger. They say you can use up to 35 lbs but they already hurt my back at 15 lbs. Now we use Ergos and they are great. All these are expensive for such a short use of time. Craig's list always has some for sale that are practically new.

For hands on experience go to www.parentplace.com In the groups section there is a group for attatchment parenting. You will get a TON of good info on slings, and attatchment parenting WITHOUT judgement (obviously).

We have chosen AP also. I love it. My fav sling so far has been the moby wrap. I bought a version on etsy and love it. Good luck to you
